Casita Celestial

The Casita Celestial is a 2 bedroom 2 bath that sleeps 4. It is a secluded little home in a lush jungle with its own little pool and palapa (and kitchen and TV and all the comforts of home). It is part of a larger complex called VILLA DE VISTAS. There are stairs to access this property. It is not recommended for those with mobility issues.

The space

The Casita is located in a jungle garden which was created and is cared for by Melissa Roberts (a master gardener) and Daniel our caretaker.

Inside the casita you will find:

1. The central room has a complete kitchen, a comfortable sitting area, and a smart tv.
2. To the east is one bedroom suite; it celebrates the sun.
3. To the west is a second; it celebrates the moon.

Through sliding glass doors lies the prime real estate — the palapa with its dining area, its dipping pool, and some benches for enjoying one another’s company.

Down a set of stairs from the Palapa you will find a garden retreat, with sun loungers and a hammock.

Up 1 flight of stairs is a larger pool, which is perfect for young children, even infants, is also comfortable for adults. There is plenty of space for conversation, games, jumping, and splashing.

The CASITA has a small treasure of Mexican arts and crafts. Most notably is a collection of masks and needlework from all over the country.

El Nido de la Tortuga

PLEASE NOTE – This unit RARELY rents separately from the Big House. Feel free to message us to inquire if it’s available for you via the contact form.

THE NEST OF THE TURTLE is a delightful casita which is perfect for small families, especially if they have young children. It has a gracious master bedroom, a delightful bunk room, a complete kitchen, and a distinctive bathroom! The pool is just outside your door. YOU WILL JUST LOVE IT!

The space

Guests who have stayed in the NIDO say it is one of the most comfortable and distinctive places they have ever visited.

It is part of a complex called Villa de Vista, which has 3 separate and complete houses — The Big House, El NIDO, and the Casita Celestial.

The NIDO is cozy. Each room is distinctive. The sitting area has a sofa and a couple of chairs and a bar where you can sit and have breakfast or talk to the persons who are working in the kitchen. There is a table with an umbrella right outside the entrance; that’s a great place to set up your computer or to eat your meals. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed in a very gracious setting. The bunk room features a bunk bed that resembles a tree house. The bath, well the bath …. with its dual showers, its onyx sink, and its crustacean marble walls …. the bath will blow you away because it is so unusual. The NIDO has stunning Mexican arts and crafts.

It is nestled under the The Big House and located on the pool deck, just a few steps away from the pool, which was designed to be safe and enjoyable for children of all ages — infants have a deck where they can sit and splash to their delight, toddlers have a bench on which they can walk and jump into the arms of their parents, adolescents and adults have areas for sunning, reading, sleeping, or sipping a Margarita.

We have also recently made some upgrades to the property. This includes adding a generator, in case of power outages. We now have 2 different wifi services (fiber and Starlink satellite) and a switch that will toggle between them if 1 goes down. We also have an expansive mesh wifi network ensures the entire property with fast wifi. You are guaranteed to have power and internet connectivity.

If your party is larger than four and the other units aren’t rented, we can accommodate up to 16 people. More info can be found looking at our other units:

villadevistas – the whole property – sleeps up to 16
thevillasbighouse (which includes this unit) – sleeps up to 12
casitacelestial – sleeps 4

Guest access

Guests will enter the NIDO by walking down a set of stairs to the sliding glass doors which is the entrance to the Nido. It is on the pool level. The pool is shared with other guests.

Other things to note

ONE LAST THING — LOCATION. We are far enough away from the center of town that we rarely hear the noise of parties. We think our location is ideal.

For the energetic, there is a wonderful walk to the center of town along the beach.

(El Nido has VERY limited availability as we rarely rent this adorable unit on its own. Please reach out if you are interested but the price seems off. We will let you know if it’s available during your vacation time. Also, feel free to look at the Casita, it is available more often.)

The Big House

The Big House at Villa de Vistas has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms and includes two full units that fit seamlessly together. It sleeps up to 12 people.

LA CASA QUE CANTA (the Main House) is at the top of the property. It’s a 3 bedroom and sleeps up to 8.

EL NIDO DE LA TORTUGA is located on the pool deck. It is a 2 bedroom (with a bunk bed) and sleeps 4.

This listing includes both units.

The space

Our BIG HOUSE at Villa de Vistas is truly one of the most special places in San Pancho that makes itself available to guests. The VILLA is 6200 sq. feet. You have 2 complete kitchens, multiple living rooms/sitting areas, dining spaces, multiple terraces, a roof deck with spectacular views, and a pool to relax AND goof off. The property’s expansive and distinctive character invites conversation and relaxation!

It was designed with ample space for groups to gather and also plenty of spots for intimate conversations or even solitude. The living room and the media room are both generously spaced. The dining room and an area right outside on the terrace can easily seat your party for dining.

The pool, which is perfect for young children, even infants, is also comfortable for adults. There is plenty of space for conversation, games, jumping, and splashing.

Other things to note

Thank you for considering our home for your vacation. We assume you are considering others, which in a sense represent our competition. We invite you to take into consideration:

A Brief History of our experience of San Pancho-

In 2000 San Francisco was a precious little fishing village with about 4000 Mexican citizens, most of whom had lived here for generations in relatively modest homes “in town.” It also had approximately 250 expats. All homes were built in “the old style,” which required lots of laborers and masons and stone workers, carpenters and iron workers, artists and painters.

In 2006 when we (Melissa and Bill) arrived, San Pancho still had about 4000 Mexicans and 250 expats. It also had one hotel, five restaurants, no internet, few houses for sale, and lots of parking spaces. In less than a week, we fell in love with the village. So, we bought land and began to design and build a home for our family – in “the old style.” It took three years.

Sometime in 2007 the area north of Puerto Vallarta was declared an Economic Development Zone and re-named the Riviera Nayarit. (The first EDZ was the Maya Riviera, extending south from Cancun). Economic Development Zones are advertised as a place for developers to come and invest. Eventually developers did come, bought property, and began to build, but in “a new style.”

The difference between the old style and the new was dramatized to me (William) one day. When “our men” were adding finishing touches to our home, we drove into town and for the first time, we saw a cement truck and a pumper blocking the road. They were pouring concrete for a house or hotel, a condo or apartment complex that would soon be completed and ready in a matter of months to bring the ROI (return on investment), that made San Pancho attractive to investors. Before long, our precious little fishing village became a bustling beach town. What does this history lesson mean for you as you consider where to rent?

Well, if you mostly want to go to the beach during the day and relish the nightlife in the evening– and do so for the best price, and experience a cramped, pressured, loud version of San Pancho – it makes little sense to consider renting our home.

On the other hand, if you wonder what it might be like to stay in a gracious, expansive Mexican villa that was built in “the old style,” check us out. The Villa de Vistas is a home, built with love and care, with art, tile, and crafts sourced from all over Mexico.

San Pancho might be divided into three areas.
– The bustling “downtown.”
– The more sedate residential area of Costa Azul
– The Jungle Road

The Villa de Vista is located at the beginning of the Jungle Road. We delight in sharing this remarkable home. Many guests report that they can feel the love that went into it – from our workers, our craftsmen, and our family – and also from our staff that has kept our home looking like new. It has been a labor of love.

We hope you will rent from us. And CELEBRATE LIFE.

The VILLA DE VISTAS is a 7 bedroom, 8 bathroom home that comfortably sleeps 12-16.

The CASITA CELESTIAL has its own dipping pool and a Palapa and is down an additional set of stairs. It is a 2 bedroom and sleeps up to 4.

This listing includes all 3 units.

The space

Our VILLA DE VISTAS is truly one of the most special places in San Pancho that makes itself available to guests. The VILLA is 8200 sq. feet with three complete and unique homes. Each home has its own kitchen, grill, sitting area, and distinctive character.

Furthermore, it was built so that there would be ample space for groups to gather and also plenty of spots for intimate conversations or even solitude. The living room and the media room are both generously spaced. The dining room and an area right outside on the terrace can easily seat a substantial number of persons for dining.

The pool, which is perfect for young children, even infants, is also comfortable for adults. There is plenty of space for conversation, games, jumping, and splashing.
